Bamboo Projects
German International School Accra – Safety Barrier Project
The bamboo safety barrier project for the German International School in Accra combined safety, functionality and natural design.
The project addressed a safety concern within the school building, where existing upper-floor corridor barriers were too low to provide sufficient protection for children. A custom bamboo barrier system was therefore developed and installed on top of the existing concrete structure without changing the open and welcoming character of the architecture.
The installation was designed as a child-friendly solution that blends naturally into the school environment while maintaining airflow and visibility. At the same time, the project demonstrates how the natural strength and resilience of bamboo can be used for durable and aesthetically pleasing construction applications.
