Training & Capacity Building

Training of Carpenters

A central component of our project is the training and further education of local carpenters. Our goal is to create jobs while combining international expertise with local know-how. This is not only about working with bamboo, but also about developing new products, understanding material properties and building the ability to independently create and improve solutions.

Collaboration with Experts

Professional expertise in bamboo processing and utilization is currently limited in Ghana. At the same time, there is a lack of structured systems to ensure consistent, reliable and scalable production processes.

To address this, we collaborate with international bamboo experts and bring targeted know-how into the country, including from regions with extensive experience such as Guatemala, Colombia, India, and Indonesia.

Our goal is not only to apply this knowledge in the short term, but to establish it locally and ensure long-term knowledge transfer. In this way, we are building sustainable skills, strengthening local capacity and supporting the development of a reliable bamboo value chain in Ghana.

At the end of April 2026, we launched our first four-week bamboo training program. For this, we welcomed bamboo expert Juan Pablo Martínez from Guatemala.

More Information

This training is designed to build the foundation for practical skills and technical knowledge across the entire bamboo value chain in Ghana.

A key component of the program is training in bamboo cultivation, maintenance and harvesting. In addition, we teach post-harvest treatment methods to ensure long-term durability and protect the material from pests and environmental damage.

A strong focus is placed on bamboo processing. Currently, we are producing school furniture for our education projects while continuously improving designs and integrating local craftsmanship and innovation to expand product development.
